Data Platform Engineer

About this role:

TVH strategy is to be more data-driven and encourages its employees to produce and use data in a more self-service way. To enable this TVH has started building a data platform which abstracts complex and distributed subsystems and offer a consistent outcome-first experience to non-expert end users

The Platform Architect will lead the design and development efforts for our data platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role involves defining the platform's architecture and design principles, optimizing infrastructure using GCP services, enhancing the data professionals (data engineers, data scientists or other data users) experience, managing the data lifecycle, enforcing security and compliance measures, implementing monitoring and performance optimization solutions and integrating new technologies and best practices to drive innovation and business value. 

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define the architecture and design principles of the data developer platform on GCP, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

• Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of GCP services and tools to support the platform's infrastructure requirements, including compute, storage, networking, and security.

• Improve the developer experience on the platform, including streamlining development workflows, enhancing tooling, and promoting best practices.

• Define and implement data lifecycle management strategies, including data ingestion, storage, processing, and analytics, leveraging GCP data services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.

• Establish and enforce security policies, access controls, and data governance measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data on the platform, in compliance with industry regulations and standards.

• Implement robust monitoring and logging solutions to track platform performance and usage metrics, and proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including BI&Anaytics, IT, and AI/ML team to align platform development efforts with business objectives. Document architecture designs, technical specifications, and best practices for internal and external audiences.

• Stay on-top of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in cloud computing, data management, and platform engineering. Continuously evaluate and integrate new tools and techniques to enhance the platform's capabilities and competitiveness.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related

• GCP Cloud architecture & data engineering certifications are a plus 

• At least 5 years of deep experience across systems integration, platforms, solution architecture

• Knowledge of IaC (Terraform) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD (GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD) 

• Knowledge of SQL and Python    

• Project experience in a cloud-based environment and cloud native technologies

• 5+ years of experience with database technologies

• Hands-on experience with schema design and definition in a database environment

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues

• Experience with agile methodologies
