Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as BI&A Product Owner and play a crucial role in the delivery of BI & Analytics solutions to business.

Our team consists of 30 colleagues taking up roles in multiple data disciplines (data analysis, data visualization, data engineering…).  We are working in an international context, mainly focussed in Waregem, Belgium.

The team is organized in multiple squad teams, to be able to support the different business domains in providing them relevant and valuable insights from data through reports and data analyses.  We inspire and support business domains to become more data literate and use data as a valuable tool in their business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Product Owner plays a crucial role in envisioning what needs to be built for the Data Products, creating a mission board, and translating that vision into actionable items such as epics, tickets, and defining valid product metrics.

  • You will closely work with business stakeholders to have a profound understanding of business context and needs.
    By doing this you will be able to build a clear product roadmap and ensure transparent reporting and delegation towards the squad and the business stakeholders.

  • The BI&A Product Owner is responsible for supervising the delivery of BI and Analytic Data products for the assigned business domains in his squad.  You monitor the operations and quality of the delivered service.

  • The BI&A Product Owner is responsible for the well-functioning of this squad: engaging squad members to deliver according to the requirements and quality level, follow up the resource allocation and workload, identify training needs, …

  • You communicate and provide transparency to the business stakeholders as to what the squad will be delivering in the next sprint and has delivered in the previous sprint by presenting the results and metrics in a sprint review meeting. 

  • You coordinate and drive dependencies and improvements with stakeholders (other PO’s, squads, suppliers, IT, …).

  • You update and maintain professional knowledge and demonstrate up-to-date expertise on the company processes within your assigned functional domains in order to do profound research and recommend solutions and improvements for the benefit of the organization.

  • The experienced BI&A Product owner is considered as business advisor for business data strategy.  You will provide strategic advice to business stakeholders how to use data to drive their business development.

  • Optionally you take up the scrum master role for your squad.  You organize Sprint Reviews and act as a knowledge hub and you facilitate the communication between the squad and the business. You participate in the daily stand-up to guide the squad towards the sprint goals.

What you’ll need:

  • Master diploma in IT, applied economics (or other business oriented degree) or equivalent by experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role or 5+ years experience in business analysis or business process management or project management

  • You need to be proficient in both Dutch and English language

  • Experience in Jira, notions of Tableau and Google Cloud Platform are a plus

  • Project experience in a cloud-based environment

  • Ideally experience with one or more data disciplines: data visualization, data engineering, data analyses, …

  • Strong communicative skills (both oral and written) and ability to adapt his/her style depending on the situation

  • Ability to manage, motivate and coach employees (project members) from a non-hierarchical position, in order to achieve the project goals
