Lead Maintenance Technician 

 

Full-time | Facilities | Location – Olathe, KS, 66022 

 

Serve as the subject matter expert for maintenance and repair of material handling equipment and lead for the Maintenance Technician team including planning and organizing work, providing training, and ensuring the facility and equipment is orderly and clean.  Leverage expert level maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills to respond to advanced technical challenges.


 

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

You’ll deliver short and long-term projects that support the business strategy. This will involve:

• Assigns and oversees completion of crew’s work activities as assigned through EMaint work request system 

• Monitor work activity in all maintenance areas to address problems and ensure processes, procedures safety rules and sanitation standards are followed 

• Assign or perform advanced or complex maintenance tasks to ensure proper coverage during absences or breaks of other maintenance technicians 

• Share expert level troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude with team members to exceed customer expectations 

• Elevate and communicate critical issues to Facilities Supervisor and Manager 

• Act as a liaison as needed for other departmental leaders and IT staff in the event of critical equipment failure 

• Ensure safe handling and use of various chemicals with strict adherence to hazardous materials and MSDS requirements 

• Ensure team complies with all safety procedures and participates in safety training including ensuring safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and people 

• Report all accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions to the Safety Manager and Maintenance Supervisor 

• Identify and recommend areas where cost savings can be achieved without the sacrifice of quality

• Leverage expertise of material handling equipment, and departmental processes and procedures to recommend improvements to processes, systems, and methods 

• Own and provide expertise in leadership and completion of major tasks and/or projects which bear directly on organizational or departmental objectives 

• Lead, mentor and train less experienced team members, including developing and delivering product specific presentations

 

HOW TO SUCCEED

 

We’re looking for someone who can come up with simple solutions to complex problems. To join us you need:

• Associate’s Degree or relevant Technical Certification or a minimum of 2 years work experience performing substantially similar essential functions or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• In addition to educational requirement or equivalent combination above, must possess a minimum of 7 years work experience performing substantially similar essential functions 

• Must possess a minimum of 7 years work experience and advanced competency in material handling equipment repair and maintenance including experience with automated conveyor systems

• Demonstrates expert level knowledge of machinery, hand tools, power tools, electricity (110 volt – 480 volt), controls, circuitry, motors, bearings, building construction, plumbing, and HVAC

• Ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings 

• Experience working with a CMMS

• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical & electro - mechanical systems and practical knowledge of plant electrical/mechanical systems.

• Ability to analyze electro-mechanical devices, trouble shoot advanced failures and implement repairs.

• Demonstrates expert level problem solving and/or troubleshooting competency in responding to technical issues of advanced complexity 

• Previous experience and proven effectiveness in leading, mentoring and training others 

• Demonstrates intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Excel,  Word, Outlook, and/or Google Mail/Calendar

• Demonstrates proficiency navigating the Internet and company computer systems and databases

• Meets challenges with a self-starter attitude and philosophy 

• Demonstrated expertise in the navigation of EMaint

• Demonstrates effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated track record in effective customer and inter-company communication 

• Demonstrates proficient organizational, time management and follow up skills 

• Must be team oriented and possess a positive attitude with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others to achieve departmental and company objectives 

• Demonstrates professionalism, discretion and confidentiality 

• Ability and willingness to work various shifts as needed to meet business needs

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%

• Demonstrates a desire and commitment to promote and share the TVH mission, vision, values and culture

• Experience with automated conveyor systems such as Hytrol, Automation, Inc., and TGW, preferred but not required

• Experience working with 3M carton sealing equipment, Automated Packaging AutoBaggers, RanPack Fill Systems, Sealed Air VersaPacker systems, and impulse bag sealers, preferred but not required

• Experience with SAV and WinCC, preferred but not required
